Italian Ruscus
Italian Ruscus is a type of greenery that is used in many different kinds of flower arrangements to increase the volume as well as the beauty of the look. There are usually 5-7 stems per bunch.
The deep green color of this greenery leaf complements most flowers such as:

Product Details
Filler Flowers (Baby Breath, Limonium, Solidago, Wax Flower)
- We recommend you receive your flower 3 days prior to your event.
- Luster of tiny blooms to fill up spaces.
- Available year-round.
- Growers bunch includes 5-9 stems.
- Average vase life: 8-10 days.
Baby’s Breath (Gypsophila)
- Per bloom: 0.5 cm wide.
- Average stem length: 25 inches.
- Clusters may bend or break off easily, please handle with care.
- Common Colors: white.
- Dye colors: pink and blue (Dye will transfer color to EVERYTHING, please be careful when processing.)
- To process: remove the package, holding upside down (stems facing upward), shake slowly and tear apart.
Limonium
- Per bloom: 0.3 cm wide.
- Average stem length: minimum 23 inches.
- Common colors: purple, pink, yellow and white.
- Unopened bloom may fall off easily, please handle with care.
Solidago
- Per bloom: 0.3 cm wide.
- From tip to stem, 10-13 cm.
- Average stem length: about 20 inches.
- Common Colors: Yellow.
Wax Flower
- Per bloom: 0.5 cm wide.
- Average stem length: about 20 inches.
- Common colors: White and Light Pink.
- Has a REALLY thick bark-like stem. HAMMER the bottom of stems for easier water intake.
Foliage/greenery (Leather, Salal, Italian Ruscus, Israeli Ruscus, Aspidistra, Lily Grass, Palm, Eucalyptus: Regular, Silver Dollar, Seeded, Myrtle, Bells of Ireland, pittosporum, Monstera, Dusty Miller)
- ALL foliage DO NOT require flower food. Flower food will make foliage wilt faster.
- All foliage will require a re-cut before putting back into the water.
- Foliage mostly will last about 7-10 days.
- Most of the foliage can be used for different types of arrangement or design.
- Some greenery is sold by weight, not stems.
Leather
- One of the most common foliage used.
- Available year-round
- Can be used for most arrangements.
- About 24 inches in length and about 6-8 inches wide
- Have tufted leaves and medium green color
- All female leaves WILL have seeds at the back of the leaves, it might be either green or black in color. They WILL fall off, use with care.
Salal
- One of the most common foliage used.
- NOT available from late June to mid-July for 3 weeks for sprouting season.
- Can be used for all arrangements.
- About 15-18 inches in length and each leaf is about 3 inches in length and 2 inches wide.
- Medium green color.
- Can last without water for up to 48 hours.
Italian Ruscus
- Grows in Italy.
- Available year-round.
- Have a natural curve to give it a softer look.
- Can be used for all arrangements, specially tall or hanging down designs, corsages & boutonnieres.
- Has several laterals on each stem.
- About 25-30 inches in length, each lateral about 4 inches each.
- Medium to dark green color.
- Can last without water for up to 24 hours.
- Depends on the season. It might come with flower or fruit (about 0.5 cm wide).
Israeli Ruscus
- Available year-round.
- About 10-12 oval leaves on each stem.
- Close to a straight stem.
- Can be used in arrangements or designs that require length (horizontal or vertical). Smaller leaves can be used for corsages & boutonnieres.
- About 18-20 inches in length, each leaf about 4 inches in length, 1.5 inches wide.
- Medium green color.
- Can last without water for up to 24 hours.
Aspidistra
- Available year round.
- Long oval shaped leaf.
- One leaf per stem.
- Can be uses in designs that require horizontal length. Good for wrapping, manipulation or just flat surface.
- Minimum 20 inches in length and 5 inches wide.
- Dark green color, occasionally variegated (no guarantee).
- Can last without water for up to 48 hours.
Lily Grass
- Available year-round.
- About 16-24 inches in length, 0.5 to 1 cm wide.
- Available medium, dark or variegated green color.
- Due to its character and length, it always give a hanging-down effect to design. Also used for tying.
Palm
- Available year-round.
- Most common palm in Toronto will be TEPE ( teepee).
- About 40-44 inches in length, minimum 16 inches wide.
- Medium green color.
- Each stem is spade-shaped (wide at the bottom and triangular towards the top).
- Each stem has a minimum of 12-15 leaves.
- Can be used with any tropical flowers or be the background of any funeral design.
- Due to its shape, it is not sturdy to support heavy weights (it will lean backwards).
Eucalyptus (Baby, Regular, Silver Dollar, Seeded)
- NOT available year-round.
- SEPARATE BUCKET required.
- WILL secrete sap and make hands black and sticky. We recommend to wear disposable gloves or wash hands with disinfectant hand soap (alcohol) after processing.
- Scratch the bark with a knife for the minty smell.
- Baby: 12-20 inches in length, each stem has 30-50 leaves, heart (round) shaped leaves.
- Regular: 17-23 inches in length, each stem has 50-70 leaves, heart shaped leaves.
- Silver dollar: minimum 20 inches in length, each stem has 15-20 leaves, round shaped leaves.
- Seeded: about 23-27 inches in length, each stem will have 4 to 5 lateral, each lateral has 3-4 leaves and seeds.
- Greyish-green color for all types of eucalyptus leaves.
- Baby & regular is good for linear design.
- Silver Dollar & seeded give a softer look. Excellent for hanging designs and wedding designs.
Myrtle
- Available year-round.
- Multi-usage foliage.
- Have fragrance (a hint of lemon).
- Each stem is at least 30 inches in length, 5 inches wide, will have 4 to 5 lateral.
- Each leaf about 1.5 inches in length and 0.5 inches wide.
- Medium green color.
- Good for designs that require linear effect (any direction) and table arrangements.
Pittosporum
- Available year-round.
- Each stem about 15-20 inches in length, can be single stemmed or have 2-5 lateral.
- Each leaf is long and oval and about 2 inches long and 1.5 inches wide.
- Medium green (face), light green (bottom) or variegated.
- If the leaves start to curl up, it means not enough water intake, might need to hammer the bottom of stems for increased water intake.
- Excellent for shorter arrangements or round designs.
Dusty Miller
- May not be available year-round.
- Delicate lace leaves (hairy).
- Each leaf is about 6-8 inches in length, 3-4 inches wide.
- Grey to light grey (almost white) in color.
- Due to its color and texture, Dusty Miller will completely stand out from the rest of the flowers, so need to use carefully (do not overuse within an arrangement).
- Most common usage will be table arrangements and wedding arrangements.
Care & Handling
Care and Handling Recommendations
On our Flowers shop
- When we receive our flowers, they come in boxes. We inspect all our flowers and make sure they are up to our standard.
- We cut all the stems and dip them in instant hydrating liquid before putting in water.
- We do not process any of your flowers (cutting any leaves or thorns of roses).
- We will take your flowers off from water right before they go out for delivery, you might find the delivery box little wet when you receive your flower.
Before you receive flowers
- Make sure buckets/containers is clean, may wash with diluted dishwashing liquid or bleach, make sure raise well.
When you receive flowers
- Fill your buckets/containers with at least 6 inches of fresh water.
- We recommend using close to room temperature water or even slightly lukewarm water (Especially in winter).
- Add the provided flower food to the water, follow the instruction of the package. Adding TOO MUCH flower food will make flowers wilt faster.
- Remove all package and elastic bands.
- Cut all leaves below the waterline to prevent bacteria growing in water which might cause premature wilting.
- Cut the stems about 1 inch from the bottom at diagonally 45 angles to maximize water intake.
- Immediate after cutting put flowers into the prepared water.
- Make sure you are NOT over-crowded your bucket. Over-crowding may affect or damage the blooming flower.
- Re-check on flowers after 3-4 hours, if the flower is drooping, RECUT the stem another 1 inch, it is possible the air bubble is formed inside the stem which blocking the water intake.
- For ANY foliage, put them in FRESH water ONLY. Flower food will make foliage wilt faster.
- Keep both flowers and foliage in cool (prefer darker) location. Please avoid any direct sunlight, wind drafts or heat and extreme temperatures.
- Putting flowers in warm temperature will help flowers (especially roses and carnations) blooms quicker. Vice versa, putting flowers in cooler location will slow down the process.
- Change water every 48 hours or when the water becomes cloudy.
- Make sure your flowers will have sufficient water at ALL times.
For Roses
- All roses are with guard petals attached, in order to protect during transportation. After removing the packaging cardboard, carefully remove any brown or discolored guard petals. This might up to 8 petals per rose.
- Wear gardening gloves while handling since we do not remove any thorns on your roses before delivery.
For Hydrangea
- Your hydrangea will arrive in buckets, NO need to recut after receiving. Just leave them in cooler temperature.
- When re-cutting hydrangea, cut the bottom diagonally AND cut UP the stem vertically.
- Hydrangea will drink an exceptionally large amount of water, please DO NOT over-crowded your buckets/ containers.
For all dye or tinted flowers
- Your dye flowers will transfer its color to ANYTHING, please be careful when processing. It is normal that the water will be slightly tinted and just change to freshwater.
